Midwest | This is just a classic example a mature market. Market share is shrinking due to changing dietary choices. Production has been shrunk due to natural disaster. Some herds have enjoyed the market. some people were forced to liquidate and watch the "factory close" for long term financial losses. The number of players has shrunk dramatically. Look at the number of contracts that trade in live cattle. In my opinion it is too thin to function efficiently. The cattle industry does not like ethanol even though distillers grains has been a cost cutter for feeders. Lots of changes happening. Looks like inflexibility will drive you out of the business. This is turning into a niche market for high end consumers. It never will return to what it was thirty years before. | |
