I watched bankers force farmers sell ground in the 80's to keep their operating note. Groups of bankers started front corporations and were the ones buying that same ground! I know one case that the banker forced a man to sell a 1/4. That very same banker was the one that owned the "cooperation" that bought it. I know of a friend that the banker told him he needed to sell a 40 or his operating loan just would not fly. He had someone lined up to buy the 40. Ended up being one of the members of the banks board that bought it. He just happened to own the other 120 acres. He needed it to irrigate the full 1/4. I will never forget that. It happened to friends and family. As you all say business is business and I agree. I just cannot forget what bankers have done in the past.
