Speaking as a guy who spent years in the LP business doing just what you are wanting, don't mess with it. By the time you buy what you need to do it safely or pay someone else to come do it you have blown anything you might have saved on 100 gallons of gas. I know, 25% of 500 is 125. At best you will still lose some.

Set your tank beside the lease tank, duct tape the fill valve on the lease tank and write DO NOT FILL on it, and have your tank filled. Around here most leases include the tank regulator, so you probably need to buy your own high pressure regulator. One of them needs to be adjusted so yours locks up at a lower pressure than the lease tank, then tee the lines with a ball valve for each tank line. The lease tank should run out first, and automatically switch to the new tank. You can then disconnect the lease tank, cap the line, and tell them to come pick it up.
