Subject: Re: Pivot Monitoring Systems

Alsace 47°52'46"N 7°24'30"E
I have a friend who controlled 7 Valmont pivots starting 2005 from his 400 Km remote office despite drought restrictions.
He used Valmont's CamsWin program with the french GSM cellular phone network. He checked his pivots at least 2 times a day, started and stopped them according to the restrictions. A roundtrip would have cost him at least 1.5 hours one way.... this way, he had all the required info within 5 minutes. This way, he was able to run his farming business with a neighbour farmer looking from time to time and telling him the amount of local rainfall.

I am interested to get info from any of you using Valley's or Zimmatic's Phone remote controls, as we want to move in this direction. Just starting and stopping the systems isn't enough for us: we want to monitor and control the systems including end gun and application depth at least. We are also interested to know if there is a warning being transmitted if the pivot stops on error (pressure fall, tower failure, any other malfunction)

TIA
