Northwest iowa | Obviously inline will use less wrap, and is usually faster. That's where the advantage ends over individual wrapping. In my opinion, trying to cut cost on plastic is a lot like trying to cut cost by using cheap seed or less seed. It will bite you in the long run. Advantages of individual wrap include the opportunity to harvest over a broad range of moistures where inline won't work, transportability, can feed from different batches without having to open a new line, and don't ruin a bunch of feed with one hole. I realize that a lot of producers use inline successfully, but I have seen enough wrecks to reject it as a viable option, even a backup plan for myself. Feed is too valuable to risk using that system. | |
