Missouri | There will be some expansion in the hog business. However all those in the hog industry know that there is still only so much packing capacity. 1998 is still in everyones mind. With no new packing plants in the future. Hog producers will not over produce again. They will expand enough to have packing plants killing at full capacity. So the expansion will be limited. There will be no one new in the hog industry as it is just too hard to get into. I would say the same for chickens, as it is so vertically integrated, that they know exactly how much to expand. | |
