Subject: RE: GPS on cell phone

Clinton County, Michigan
Most new phones have GPS. It is simply assisted GPS for a 911 operator to find you if called. There is different software available depending on the phone. I had a Nextel i85sr that had a menu you could get lat/long...I dont remember if it had elevation. Many new Verizon phones can get VZNavigator, which gives directions and everything for a monthly fee.
Although a phone would be just one unit to carry, you might want to look at a separate handheld GPS. Especially since a phone GPS is not very accurate, and a handheld would be more accurate using WAAS. Amazon has a Garmin eTrexH for $88.+ship http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-eTrex-Handheld-High-Sensitivity/dp/B00...
