South Georgia | The switch is actually in the dern latch mechanism, and it gets dust in it, which won't let it make contact. Ford's solution to this (the dealership did this under 'warrenty') is to spray some penetrating oil in it to wash the dirt out. After it did it again in a few months, MY solution was to go in the door panel, unplug it, and short across the wires. Now the truck thinks the doors are closed all the time. Radio keeps playing until the timer kills it, and electric windows keep working until the timer kills them. I personally prefer it this way, but I'm odd. The biggest negative to this is that the dome light doesn't come on when you open the door, but I'd already taken the bulb out of it (because of that foolishness of it coming on whenever I switched the key off.)
The hardest part of doing it is actually getting the wire unplugged. Door panels come right off, no problem.
