North Dakota
Is AC Emerson a winter wheat? Will have to look into that. My first purchase after the great scab event of 1994 was AC Barrie to try to combat it. My main problem is too much water. After four straight years of excessive rain all the standing water just breeds disease. Soil health cannot be addressed until I can effectively drain my land and the gestapo(us fish and wildlife, epa, etc and so on) will not allow it so I guess I am sol in that regard. Variety selection will have to be first, then other avenues. Fungicide application is problematic also. Know a few that sprayed three times and they still have high levels. It is also hard to justify when 50 acres out of a 150 acre quarter are water or drowned out. Can't spray be ground because it is too wet, and by plane you are spraying 50 acres of water and weeds. But everything is great and we all have a huge, bumper crop on the way that is top quality so the pronosticators say.
