Carbondale, KS | Did exactly what you are talking about Cliff except our combine had 24.5x32 & 16.9x26's. We changed them out to 900-50-42 and 24x26 on the rear (600 metrics will go on these rims but the tires were cheap).
I first tried them out in my cousins wheat stubble field, conventional tillage, like 2 days after a 3 in rain. Left a little more lug than i wanted but in a month you couldn't even tell where i had been. We notill so i think that helps w/the traffickability of the ground but the last 2 harvest have been wet and those tires just float you right across. I was concerned about what the deep lugs would do in our notill but was completely convinced after a wet bean harvest then notilling wheat in that it was a non issue.
That doesn't read the best but i think you see the point i'm trying to make. We are very satisfied w/the change and would do it again. | |
