| If the rainy pattern we are in keeps up we may be looking for some different combine tires before fall for our 2366. Currently we have 30.5x32 bias ply Firestones but at Firestone's booth at the FPS they had a 2377 with their 900/65R32 deep tread flotation tire that looked really good plus it fit behind the 6 row head pretty well. Has anybody on here changed from a 30.5x32 to the 900 metric and are they worth the extra cost to gain some flotation? The 900 series tire would have about 40% more flat plate surface area plus it would handle the weight at a much lower pressure. We are mostly no-till so we don't need a rice tire for mud so we are really looking to reduce rutting and ad flotation which will also help in a dry year. If we changed the front tires to the 900 series metrics and the rear tires to 600 series metrics we would gain almost 40% in tire surface area and even if it reduced compaction enough to return $1/acre it would only take a couple of years to pay for the tires. | |
