Subject: RE: engine chip/tune JD 9860 combine and fuel savings

To weigh in on the topic gentlemen, anyone who claims to increase power - without increasing fuel, is quite simply full of .. rubbish. Additional power, requires additional fuel and those who profess otherwise perhaps are unaware of how an engine and achieving more power really works. I have read more than enough articles to understand most tuner companies know little about what they do or how an engine really works and more importantly what you - the farmer does with the machine. I sit in combines and tractors , run rows, count bushels and listen to what you want and how you work.
Fuel savings is found by increasing the acres per hour that can be covered - if you can do the same amount of work that used to take 10 hours in say 9 ... this saves fuel and it also saves machine hours and man hours. It is what it is. Plain and simple, but of course .. you can always believe the 'Save 30% Fuel Consumption' ... but just ask the tuning company how that works exactly.
