![](Mirror Ab) Central Alberta | No till has become very common on the western prairies of Canada and generally has been good. Keep the land from being worked so when it gets dry the soil won't blow away. Less work to put in the crop only one pass. But have more disease pressure with all that residue sitting on the ground.
I look at nature and nature is not 100% no till.(yes I know some guys will disagree) Nature is minimum till. There is always some stirring of the soil. Hoof action of grazing animals. Digging of burrowing animals etc. The only thing with nature is it will not have huge chucks of land worked up at once. The other thing is that anything that is black will not stay that way for long. Something will start to grow. The whole idea to have the land worked up for half the year is not natural. The idea to work up today to seed tomorrow on smaller pieces of land is a bit more inline with nature. | |
