I appreciate your post except the first sentence addressed to OldMcDonald.

I contend that the deep #!@$ happens when, as you say, a bank has collateral issues. I know for a fact that when a bank itself is insecure they look to their customers for recovery. That is when the banker starts adjusting values lower, recommending when to sell, and even calling loans due immediately. That is how this thread started for the most part and what I've shared was learned sitting on the wrong side of the bankers desk. If you manage liquidity for a bank then you are well aware of this process, perhaps you have been told by the FDIC that your "ratios" or "scores" are insufficient and you've had to instruct your bankers to start hunting liquidity from your customers.

I enjoy the heck out of this board and read it at least a year before posting anything. Most people on here are clearly independent minded and hard working - my kind of people. I wish that when I was 25 or so someone would have put a hand on my shoulder and given me a heads up regarding banking, loans, interest, money, etc. That nice public education and college education I survived taught me none of it, probably by design. The rest of my days if I can help someone regarding such issues I will, with respect.
