northeastern Ohio | I've had the SCH on both a JD head as well as a Gleaner head. Here is the good and bad:
1) The SCH guards and sections rarely break. It seems that I was always breaking the JD guards and sections.
2) The SCH sections seem to dull a little quicker.
3) The SCH rollers make the knife glide effortlessly, which should help your drive last longer.
4) The SCH do not plug up like the JD did on my 620 head.
5) The SCH cut closer to the ground on my JD head. This was good and bad as it got more beans in the head but picked up more stones and dirt. I tried adjusting the tilt of the JD head, but it would not tilt back any more. The Gleaner head seems to pick up LESS rocks and dirt with the SCH system but still gets all the beans.
Overall: I am extremely happy with SCH on the Gleaner. I was happier with the SCH on the JD 600 series head, but not completely satisfied. SCH was a definite improvement on the 900 series JD head. | |
