Central Missouri | There is nothing anyone says in agtalk marketing that will ever move the market one way or the other just not enough money around this place. jmo
Wishing or hoping is not a mental exercise that anyone running a business should engage in. Spending time on thinking about risk management and thinking through the worst case scenario and how it would affect your business should be foremost and then devising strategies to mitigate that risk. The thing about the last 5 years or so in grain farming is that there really wasn't anything that could cause very bad outcomes. That changed with the big high and the new price range definition that occurred in Aug of 2012 because big lows always follow big highs in ag commodities. This year was the first year that it really mattered what one did in marketing because it is the first time in years that price could go below cop. We will now be in the cycle of big highs every 3-4 years followed by big lows imo. Think and devise the ability to take advantage of the cycle both at the highs and the lows. | |
