Subject: Fire Mule in parades

West Union, Illinois

We joke my Kawasaki Mule is our 4th fire truck ... but it isn't much of a joke.  I have a 40 gallon tank and 12 volt pump we mount on it to water newly planted tress that works out well for grass fighting.  During deer season it generally is either loaded on a trailer or close by, ready to go to the woods and assist an injured hunter.

For our Independence Day celebration I have a blue light bar I strap on top, throw a spare battery (powers the light bar), couple fire extinguishers and first aid kit in back, and it spends most of the day at the park as a quick response rig.  Our July 4th parade is sponsored by our Ruritan Club.  As a member of the club and Assistant Fire Chief I get the honor of being the end of the parade.  I tell folks when they see me they know it's all over.
