I've been spraying off the back of my corn planter and grain drill for about 10 years now. Wish I would have done it sooner. It is very simple to set up and you shouldn't even need a rate controller because most people plant at very consistent speeds. On 95% of my acres of corn that spray pass with the planter will be the only spraying required this year. Burndown and full amount of pre herbicides. I feel like the spray coverage behind the planter and drill is better than if I used a traditional sprayer because the speed is slower and the boom height is very consistent. I've never stopped planting because of wind. I use low drift flood type nozzles that are pretty close to the ground and relatively low pressure with 10 gallons of water or 28% as a carrier. Spraying with the planter and drill save me a bunch of time and money. x2- my nozzles come on and off with my row clutches, and have 3 10 ft. sections. (12 row) most perfect job of spraying you can ask for. I have a new set of demco sidequests. 350 gal. Per side. Didn't want the weight of the 500's. All planter functions controlled thru integra. Awesome system. I spray 17.5 gals. acre, 40 acres to a fill. I'm not deny it is extra work by quite a bit for the guy tending the planter. Makes for a long day for him keeping product stocked on supply trailer. But when we pull out of a field, were done. |
