Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
On my 1770, they installed the contact drive tire as shown on the picture below. I have ground drive for the planting mechanism but this has nothing to do with the fertilizer drive. On my planter, the seed mechanism is driven by Deere's contact tire through the transmission for seed off of the left main tire. The fertilizer is a different contact tire driving off of the right main tire.

When the planter is lowered each contact drive tire makes contact and each does its own thing. Possibly I'm missing something about your situation, maybe your planter is different.

Note: The Demco pump in the picture is a double but a single would mount the same way. They have a mount of this style for a John Blue pump as well.
