wannabe2 - Check for water in the bottom while your in there.
Unless you want to drain the gearbox (actually not a bad idea) drain the water from the bottom before removing the top.  If you pull the top first it will run out full force. if you leave the cap on you have better control.  Oh, and when you do it take along a small cordless drill and a little bitty drill bit.  There is a vent hole in the side of the dome that is probably plugged. drill it out carefully.
