I feel your pain nothing more aggravating than a knotter that is constantly messing up or not tying. Went through something similar when I bought used NH baler. One side was nicking the twine right behind the knot and as soon as you grabbed it coming up the shoot it popped the twine. Finally had enough and got hold of a very good NH baler guy. He tweaked some things, replaced a few worn parts and I switched to plastic 7200 170# knot strength twine instead of all the inconsistent natural twine and it's been fine every since. Don't mean to make light of your situation but sometimes this picture seems all too true.
