Subject: RE: Hooded sprayer question

South Carolina
We have the new Wilmar hoods and like them. We did have one issue and the company stood behind the product with no questions asked. As for as a comparison of the old Redball and new Wilmar, both perform about the same as far as I can see. One advantage of the older Redball is the hoods will flex and stay in the middles better when running in larger cotton. In fact. the best job with hoods is done with the old, worn out Redball that does not run over standing cotton but stays in row middles largely because the linkage is so worn it flexes as the hoods move. Problem is that running a hooded sprayer with Gramaxone require a very steady hand and high level of expertise. When operated correctly we have very little damage to cotton. When operator gets sloppy, it can get very ugly. More damage is done from the Gramaxone than hood tearing up the cotton.
