+1 except depreciation is only a concern if you expect to sell or trade it. When I buy a piece of equipment I look at it as if I am going to own it until I die. You are correct with the financing. There did not seem to be a good 568 or 569 with only 1375 bales when I was looking. Most had around 10-12,000 and they still wanted $20,000 or so for them. If they had 15,000 bales the price might come down to $16-17k. There is generally a reason people traded them in at that point. There are different ways to look at certain critical equipment purchases. With all the rain we are having this year, when you have a chance to bale it better work. I also like the larger 5x6 ft or now 5 x 5-1/2 ft bales as they hold a lot more hay then a 4x5 ft bale. Which means fewer times I have to start a tractor in the winter and longer intervals between loading the feeders. Jim |
