Morris, IL | Just FYI, CFC has slow down kit for 64$ a row. http://www.cfcdist.com/shopping/gathering-chain-slow-down-kit-p-188... I put set on last year, seemed to help but very little on our old 643 feeding 7720 combine. Last year we combined lot of 200+ bushel corn, 20% moisture or so, with tons and tons of trash that really slowed me down. So reduction in trash is what i was after. I ran less then 3 mph all year.
Would like to put chopper rolls on in near future. Still running tappered rolls, tappered rolls kind of work differently then most strait rolls. I'm convinced that the two would work good together (slow down kit and chopping/revolving window rolls) but i'll never know till i get chopper rolls. Talked to few guys that did similar change on older corn head (calmer kit) with older combines and had good results. I kind of feel same way about the beveled deck plates. Rolls alone are around 1k a "ROW", really like to have them for our strip till COC system but old disc is going to have to make due this year i think.
