Between Omaha and Des Moines, 7 miles South of I80 | Has anyone just done the BT Chopper rolls? (Not gathering chain slowdown kit and/or beveled deck plates) We go slow enough, 2.5-3.2 MPH and moisture is 19.5 to 16.0 %. (I don't feel trash has been an issue, for us) (only 4 rows, on 444) I'm not too sure I like the looks of the beveled deck plates = just a funnel for any loose kernals. (But I see how they may help with a trash issue) Not too sure about a slowdown kit, on a 6620 Sidehill combine, that the ears have to go more "uphill" already with the taller stance of an old JD sidehill. = I think I want them in the auger, and the sooner the better. (But, maybe there is less "tumbling" with slower gathering chains ???) Reason for looking into BT Choppers; had more plugging, with soybean planter, this year; BUT we didn't have any stock cows, on those acres either. That may have been the difference. Next year, is already lined up for stock cows, on old corn acres. Also, been reading about updated "triple cluster gear", too. {dvswia, on NAT, seems to feel that there isn't much difference, and has spoken to a guy, that rebuilds them and says that guy sees about the same failure rate} http://talk.newagtalk.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=422474&mid=3375042#M3375042 Anyways, Did anyone just try BT choppers, only ? Thanks
