Subject: RE: 8420 engine failure update

west central wisconsin

I don't know how they were checked,...yet.  We had a discussion about them possibly causing the piston failure, and he just said that was not the cause.  I've heard some say that low fuel supply to a cylinder will make it burn hot, because a higher percentage of air is burned, but I also hear that without enough fuel, that a cylinder will burn cool.  I'm not an engine guru by any stretch of the imagination, but I try to learn from situations like this and try to avoid having them happen again, if possible.

Some of you guys bring up excellent points, and I thank you for your input.  The mechanic working on this is pretty good at wrenching, and is pretty good at discussing what ifs, and how comes, so I'm not afraid to mention some of these topics.
