Subject: It is all very complicated.

Little River, TX
The house, very expensive house, was built in a gated community development.
The Lot was overlooking Lake Whiney, a few miles South and West of Fort Worth.
The lot is on a clay bluff overlooking the lake.
The lake probably comes under the Corps Of Engineers and or the Brazos River Authority. That alone creates problems with common sense.

The "Lake" was a reservoir or flood control THING. This Bluff Probably was on a cut part of the river channel. A river with out a flow, now just standing water.

What did building over a possible fault in the clay have on the integrity of that clay.

How much influence does the builder of the home have with the authorities is another question. Near here a house in danger of sliding off into the river was provided thousands of dollars of rock facing to their river bank to stabilize the bank. Nothing like occurred at "Lake" Whitney.

Personally I have zero sympathy for the home owner. I also believe who ever approved of that as a building site should shoulder a major part of the clean up cost.

So yes burning may not appear to be a wise solution, but it may have been the only solution left.

Start by pointing fingers at Washington DC. Then point fingers at Austin Texas. Then ask some questions of their County Commissioners. Do not expect an honest answer.

OBTW Austin Texas makes Berkeley, California look like a hot bed of Conservatives.

Desk Jockeys thousands of miles distant can complicate the simplest of situations.

OBTW Here our soil can crack several inches wide and more than 15 feet deep. ( using a 15 ft carpenters tape measure )
