Ive never messed with the chaff spreader on our 9500.  If I remember right:  you roll the chopper all the way ahead on the track.  I also believe that you have to put a belt on the chopper and make it turn, I think.  If I remember it had something to do with keeping the material flowing out the back of the machine and not backing up into the walkers.
