Subject: RE: Case 330 or Landoll 7430 VT?

N.W. Illinois
We've had both and much prefer the 330. We use our 330 in the fall for primary tillage and then again in the spring for finishing. This is for corn on corn. The 330 does a excellent job doing both operations for us. We were really surprised at the even working depth across the entire tool and how well it did taking out weeds before planting.
2 big negatives for us with the 7430 was the weight(very heavy and built like a tank) which is overkill for us especially in the spring. The other negative was keeping blade sharpness. I talked to Landoll factory reps at a farm show about sharpening the blades on our Landoll that we had at the time and they offered nothing as far as advice if it was possible or where it could be done. Blade sharpness is critical for these tools to work properly.
We also found with both of these vt tools that about 6.5-7 mph was as fast as we could go without wing bounce.
Of course your soils and working conditions are going to be entirely different then what we experience. This is just what we have seen on our farm.
