| When we installed pump systems we would put a check valve and leave the effluent line full to the distribution box. We drilled a 3/16" hole in the outlet pipe above the pump to prevent air locking the pump.
On a Mound system, they wanted the effluent to drain back to the pump pit, so it was sloped back to the pit. The line had a hole both above and below the check valve to (1) Keep the pump from air locking and (2) let the effluent water drain back into the pit. We still installed the check valve to keep the effluent water from reversing the pump. Supposed to be better for the pump that way. | |
