I have often thought that our cow calf industry in Mid Western Ontario would be in a better position if we didn't have a crop insurance system subsidized to the tune of 60%. If we all had to pay the going rate for insurance on crop production, it would change the production on lots of acres. It has removed the diversity from our industry and made us less responsive to market signals.
