Thanks for taking the time for a great reply. Good luck with the job. I know you guys have honest & sincere interests in working for the producing farmers, since you're one of those producers.

It's always great to hear honest straight answers when challenged and not just defensive rhetoric. I know you didn't say it, but I also dislike a common response irregardless of the organization of "well if you have criticism, we have board openings", or "the next time elections come up, but your name on the ballot and you can make your own rules...". Doesn't matter if it's school boards, or US govt, people like to make their thoughts known to the leaders. Some leaders are receptive and some are defensive. I'm sure you're aware of that. Also, some constituents are eloquent at presenting their thoughts, criticism, & ideas, while other presenters are blunt & feel slighted or betrayed by their organization.

Irregardless of personal support of the checkoffs, I know that it brought the system bad publicity when it no longer allowed for refunds. I personally suspect many landlords were requesting refunds vs their producing tenants. That's just my local guess though.
