Subject: Paradigm shift or extreme cattle cycle.

Midwest
I do not think there are any numbers that would be relevant to the question. The cattle industry has experienced some events that are beyond the old classic "cycle". The Draught in the west has been devastating and is not over yet. The end of direct payments to corn has dramatically increased feed costs. Federal Crop Insurance has made crop farming profitable in marginal lands which is destroying acres of grassland. The lowering of kill capacity because of number shortages says packers see this as a long term situation. To sum it up, there probably is no easy or correct answer to the question you ask.
