Subject: dont have to start that wet

last year as you know was a late wheat year.

Started harvest the last few days of June and the wheat was around 15-16%. Was making anywhere from 80 to over 100/acre.

Put it in full floor air bins with big fans, kept the layers somewhat shallow and hammered down. Didnt take long to get it down to 12-13%

DC beans in behind on 3/4 of the acres and had a DC average that was really good. Had one ridge that ran in the 40's.

Does it work every year, no not always.

Do I think cover crops have a place, sure.

But I do agree with Coup. If you have some rough ground that needs an OM boost and maybe some erosion control to boot, hard to beat wheat.

Heres what we try to do.

Wheat fb DC beans fb corn (plant early maturity) fb Wheat fb DC beans

every once in awhile we will do this on ground that doesnt raise corn worth a hoot

Wheat fb DC beans fb FS beans (plant early and maybe shorter maturity) fb Wheat fb DC beans
