Subject: Applying Nitrogen to Oats

Sanilac Co. Michigan
How do most growers here and in SW Ontario apply Nitrogen to their oat crop? Do you mix it with starter and spread before sowing or spread after the oats are up? Do you use urea, AMS, or 28%? What kind of rates are you using? Are you using any fungicides and if so at what growth stage. I'm thinking of putting down 28% around the time the oats are jointing and some sort of fungicide between then and boot stage. I've got what looks to me like a pretty good stand and I want to treat them right.
