Subject: RE: Seeding Flax

SW North Dakota
We've had flax in our operation for 15 years. And plan to put out 700 acres this year. Like the guys say seed shallow. You want the flax to be up out of the ground as soon as possible. Its weak and cant push through if it crusts just a little. 50lbs is what we seed. We use starter fert. Micro essensials. @ around 50lbs. It replenishes the soil and also has a little zinc which flax shows a response to. When spraying in crop we also mix a little zinc in the tank. On average we get 20-30bu yields. Its been a good rotation crop. The flax in the picture was seeded with a 5000 flexicoil also.
