Yup, each has a guard, since the water runs so deep in the ditch at times the tiler put them in a bit deeper than you might be used to.
I had to dig a nest out of one once before they got fixed and guarded, went in with a 15 foot poker and pulled, it came out like a sausage and boy did the water run full!
