If it has run loose for any length of time, the key is worn to the point it's not fitting the keyway tight. every time you change direction, it moves. no way it'll stay tight...one ol' 4440 here had the keyway in the axle worn so even a new wedge wouldn't hold. It finally went "over the hill"...(Traded to eastern CO)...
