I don't have much experience but have grown it for several years now. Even standing well it seems to lodge enough that you have to take the whole plant through. I have always used a flex head. If it's a little green your combine will work very hard. A neighbor did mine several years ago and his case 7120 was going .9 mph and working hard. A few days later when it's good and dry it seems to thresh easily. With a chopper the straw will just about disappear if it's really dry.
