Thanks for all the helpful information guys. Still isn't a consensus, but I have learned a lot. I've always used oats in the spring with controlling erosion as the primary reason. We don't plant a lot of alfalfa in the fall, never know when the first frost is going to bite. Not sold on RR alfalfa on our flood irrigated because by the time the stand gets weak its time to rotate it out for a couple year anyway to smooth it up for a nice seed bed.
