South Dakota
I'm from South Dakota as well and its hard to say. I'd maybe call the SDSU Dakota Lakes research farm and ask their recommendation and use that as a reference point. I'd also do test strips on my own land for a few years. In South Central SD, there have been some really good years lately as far as moisture (minus 2012 of course), but when it gets bad in South Dakota, it gets really bad. My guess is that your population is in the correct ball park, but I'd definitely try it out and see what works.
