Napanee, Ontario
Exactly 1234. Said the same thing in a discussion on another thread in stock talk a cpl weeks back:

"But this is the problem i have with all the experts. Here this guy is talking about Zilmax and pink slime as the factors of high prices. Then when i'm watching the news, and high beef prices get mentioned you can bet it's the same parroted explanation you hear on all the networks: drought conditions in the southwest.

How about the real reason:

No one made any money. I never see that get mentioned in the news, experts ect.

It's that simple. The industry sucked, folks left... supply crunch ensues, prices rise. No one wants to look after 300 cows for a full year, countless hours, wkds, nights, mornings... 365, 7 days a week, just to chase nickles and red ink around from $50 a head."

Take a look at this graph. I don't remember there being any drought in Ontario... wonder why we lost 30% of our cow herd?
