How about the real reason:
No one made any money. I never see that get mentioned in the news, experts ect.
It's that simple. The industry sucked, folks left... supply crunch ensues, prices rise. No one wants to look after 300 cows for a full year, countless hours, wkds, nights, mornings... 365, 7 days a week, just to chase nickles and red ink around from $50 a head."
Take a look at this graph. I don't remember there being any drought in Ontario... wonder why we lost 30% of our cow herd?
