. | After 12 years on the local REC board, I can see a different perspective on many of the charges. When lines have to be maintained to a location despite not being used it costs the co-op money. If you want to keep the lines someone has to pay for it. The same when a line is upgraded because a single member is using more electricity than the existing line should handle. In order to try to keep prices lower for everyone, it has become more and more common to have additional charges added. Why do I want my bill to go up just because you need additional power, or power at a peak period? It's something most of us don't think about. | |
