My ground sounds similar to yours with similar yields and I get 100 more bushels on irrigated corn and less than 10 bushels more on irrigated beans. We always seem to have a 2-3 week dry period usually with high temperatures at a critical time that really trims yield potential. Irrigation helps you get through the stressful times. When I figured up cost of irrigation several years ago break event was around $4 per bushel. After that time we had several years with $6,7, & some $8 corn along with several dry years so irrigation has paid off big time for me.
