It's a little outrageous they expect you to pay anything. They applied chemical on ground that was not the intended target, a clear violation of pesticide application regulations.
They should be bending over backwards to not tick you off. One call to the state and they'd have more problems.
It's not really your problem, but you could trade them the chemical they used.
