Subject: first time spraying glyphosate = failure

i planted a field of corn and noticed more volunteer wheat coming up than i liked so i sprayed it a couple days later on thursday. I sprayed 6 gal/ acre with 32 oz/acre of glyphosate 17#/100 gal. ams, and 36 oz/100 gal. of liberate(surfactant). looked at it this morning and couldn't tell that i'd done any good. any ideas where i went wrong?
