SE MN Still in Pothole Country
In 1990 May 5 was the first Saturday of the month. At the time our church had a men's group meeting the first Saturday of the month at 7AM. When I had quit planting the night before there was frost on the grass. I went to the men's group and got back about 8:30AM. Met a neighbor driving back to his farm site and stopped to shoot the breeze. Said he had gone out but the top inch was froze too hard! Could not tell you what the soil temperature was. We started about noon and everything turned out fine. Up here if it is dry and the calendar is after April 15 you might as well plant. Have seen just as much May planted corn replanted as April planted corn.
