Subject: How does a residual/burndown work with so many weeds and residue?

Mid-Missouri
I will soon be burning down our fields that will go to soybeans. I will likely use Valor XLT but question how well it will work when it doesn't make direct contact with the soil.

Is this ok? Will a rain within a few days after application help?

I have considered taking our Phillips harrow over the ground before burndown to knock the corn stalks and henbit down before the sprayer. This will also make for a smoother field before the sprayer. The Phillips will get used before planting, so I am thinking it could also be ran before the sprayer.

What do you think about the the chemicals that work within the soil landing on plant material first?

Thanks.
