I don't have a guess as to how much yield you could give up, but if using the planter means getting them planted earlier, that will make up some of the difference. If you do use the planter on some bean acres, I would do it on the most productive soils first, and try to use the drill to solid seed on the lower productivity ground. I think you will see a bigger difference in yield between narrow and wide rows on the lower productivity soils.

Later planted and less productive soils is where narrow rows shine. That being said I still prefer less than 30" rows.
