![](/profile/get-photo.asp?memberid=9649&type=profile&rnd=662) King City, Mo | I know, dad ran a 4020 with a disk and tanks, a 4630 and finally a 4455 with saddle tanks pulling a 960 field cultivator. 20 gallon of water per acre and did an alright job.
He used water from a pond via a Briggs and Stratton motor/pump combo and didn't know what ams or drift retardant was. Google earth shows how all that field cultivating was a bad idea. The soil loss, ditches, and ponds full of prime soil are not good deals.
Notill has issues as your ditches still need worked in and after we plant a big rain come and soil is lost. I am liking the cover crops for holding the soil and getting water to go into the soil vrs running off. Just gotta wrk threw the issues of getting the cover planted to get growth and getting a crop planted into it effectively.
